Bigger and Better Opportunities
Posted On 06/05/2009 08:45:48 by juleszip

I have just recently lost my job because of down-sizing (or so they say).  I am well aware of the fact that my employer has been trying to find a way to get rid of me for a while because I have plenty of medical problems stemming from the stress at work.  When I was at work I gave 110% which is proven in black and white, and that made my co-workers look bad as well.  All I've wanted to do is help people and make a difference in the lives of others.  Because of my big heart and caring nature I lost my job.  Now I have to make certain choices that involve possible legal action to just name one.  Would anyone be able to give me some insight as to where I should be focusing my attention right now?  I have many things going on at once and it has really taken a toll on me mentally and physically.  I also have some personal things going on as well that are confusing me, and I really would like some words of wisdom from anyone that can help me.  Thanks to all of you for being great friends!  You can reach me for a private message at zipster1661@yahoo.com.  I would love any feedback that you have to offer at this difficult time!  Have a wonderful weekend!

To be honest, with the economy being bad u might  consider going to a disability lawyer and seeing if u might get on disability. Employers r being more picky than ever in hiring. I have noticed in my profession that older nurses are being turned down for employment in favor of younger ones. Many on disability r allowed some hours of employment.  Also would free up time for volunteering.  I wish u all the luck in the world and will include u in my prayers.

Thanks so much for the advice.  I am currently in touch with a law firm right now because of how I lost my job, and may have some opportunities to get back on track there.  What they did was wrong, but I'm just trying to stay focused on the positive and go from there.

Jules it is so very stressful to be out of work right now especially with the economy in such a slump.  You will get through this and one suggestion I would make right now is that you contact an EEOC Representative to see if perhaps your civil rights were violated.  Filing a grievance after being terminated is not always a smart avenue to take but sometimes it is necessary.  You have to weigh what you will gain versus having your name associated with a grievance.  Believe me anymore filing grievances can be very tricky.  I am keeping you in my prayers.

I am already in contact with a large law firm because I have a case according to many that I have spoken with.  Wish me luck!  ~Julie

Jules... I'm so sorry life is difficult for you at the moment. Being fired for any reason often shakes our faith in ourselves and the world around us. Maybe the job loss is a blessing in disguise. At least you don't have to work under those stressful conditions any longer. I'll keep ypu in my prayers.

Thanks so much for your kind words and prayers Karen.  I think this is a blessing in disguise because even though I don't have work I also don't have the horrible stress associated with it anymore.  Thanks again! ~Julie
