STICHOMANCY

While reading the forum entries on Keen today, another Advisor I like, Brigid Bishop, suggested that we all try the practice of Stichomancy again.  I have used this practice in my life off and on throughout my career and it is fun and sometimes very enlightening.  I suggest you learn about it and try it for it will surprise you.

The practice of Stichomancy is at least 3000 years old. You open to a random page of a randomly selected book in your library, to find an excerpt that applies to what you seek. In order to provide you the widest possible experience you can use a wide variety of books.  When you use the Holy Bible it is referred to as Bibliomancy.

Stichomancy (literally, divination from lines) is the practice of seeking answers to the great metaphysical questions, as well as trying to gain insight into the meaning of existence and reality, by reading random passages from a book such as the Bible or the I Ching or other books.

It is a great way to redirect your thinking and give you a course of action for the day.

1.  Select a book that you like and let it randomly open to a page.

2.  Decide how many paragraphs down the page you are going to start reading.

3.  Read the paragraph that you select from the book and see how it applies to your day.

Today I choose the book I have been reviewing called "Transforming Anger" by  the Authors Doc Childre and Deborah Rozman, Ph.D.

I selected page 56 and paragraph five before reading.  The paragragh that I chose to read states:

"Shift your focus to the area around your heart.  Now feel your breath coming  in through your heart and out your solar plexus. Practice breathing this way to ease into the technique"

I found that passage really resonated with me for I have been experiencing people's anger lately in an adverse way.

I hope you will try this divination method for it is fun for all to practice.

Blessings to you this day!

Rosie
