Healing Others and Yourself!
Posted On 07/26/2009 11:43:38 by administrator

While musing about what topic I would choose for a blog this morning this article jumped out at me and I felt strongly that I needed to share it with everyone.

As an Advisor and a Counselor I am involved with healing in a general way each day and as I read for others I automatically surround my clients with healing light and repair aura's when I can but this article was very enlightening about the process of healing.

I have never considered myself a "Healer" per se but I think we are all capable of healing ourselves and I am living proof of that for I managed to heal my body when I had cancer so I know through visualization, faith and determination it can and is done everyday.  I am including this article for it is very informative and I hope you will take the time to read it thoroughly and lets open discussions about healing others and ourselves. Maxwell Austin van Lack is an Author that I am very familar with and have read many of his books.  This is an excellent example of his expertise and knowledge of healing yourself and others.

How to Heal Anyone of Anything

    By Maxwell Austin van Lack

People have long been fascinated by the possibility of "mind-over-matter," and there’s probably no time in anyone’s life when they would more desperately like to see that concept proven than when they, or someone they love, become sick and in need of healing. With that in mind, I’d like to share a few practical psychic-healing techniques and insights I’ve collected over the last 30 years.

My first formal training in psychic-healing began in 1975 when I was blessed to spend a full week studying with Ben Bibb, a retired naval officer turned psychic practitioner of incomparable ability.

    Basic Procedures

Mr. Bibb’s five-step healing method was based on three fundamental principles:

    (1) That every human being is endowed with the latent ability to telepathically communicate information via their own sub-conscious mind to the sub-conscious of every other human being;

    (2) that the language most easily understood by the sub-conscious is the symbolic language of pictures; and

    (3) that by telepathically implanting healing instructions in the form of visual images in a person’s unconscious the full resources of one’s self can be brought to bear to effect a healing.

Step one in the process required us to calm and quieting our conscious minds in order to create a link between the conscious and sub-conscious. This process combined relaxation and deep rhythmic breathing with focused intention on opening a direct channel to one’s own sub-conscious.

For step two students were given only the name and phone number of a patient who had requested healing, usually located hundreds or even thousands of miles away, and told to visualize that they are dialing the phone number, and that on the third ring the patient would answer. At this point students were instructed to assume that a sub-conscious connection had been established.

When I asked Mr. Bibb why he chose the telephone metaphor he just smiled as if I had caught him trying to put one over on me. "For the advanced student the only thing that’s really important," he replied, "is that your visualization conveys your intention to create a communication link. With beginners I like to use the telephone metaphor because it makes use of a convention that your conscious mind finds easy to accept, and therefore doesn’t feel compelled to interfere with."

Once the patient’s unconscious was "on the line," we were ready to move on to step three which involved getting their unconscious to tell us what needed healing. Since we were given no information whatsoever about what the patient was suffering from we all felt a bit like children about to be thrown into the deep end of the pool on the first day of school and told to sink or swim. We were assured, however, that the patient’s unconscious was fully capable of sending us images appropriate to convey to us the essence of their problem; and once this information had been received we could then make further inquiries to determine the cause of the injury or disease.

Step four involved using all the information collected to formulate an appropriate healing visualization which would then, in step five, be sent back to the patients unconscious to help them carry out what amounted to a "self-healing."

I can tell you that the first time I attempted these procedures the results were as convincing as they were dramatic. Working in a 3-man team we all received that the patient assigned to us had some of the strangest symptoms imaginable, where their toes literally curled, uncontrollably, down under their feet. When we inquired into the cause we received an image of a person being struck in the back with a baseball bat. This image we took to be purely symbolic and meant only to convey the concept of a spinal injury, which was our first clue about where our healing needed to be focused.

Upon concluding our initial "diagnostic" exercise and reporting the images we had received, we were informed that the patient had been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition that none of us had ever heard of. The condition was known as "Marie Cat-Tooth" disease; an excruciatingly painful affliction characterized by an uncontrollable curling under of the toes toward the bottoms of the feet.

    Crafting Effective Visualizations as Treatments

Over the course of the week that followed most of our time was spent learning how to formulate visualizations that would effectively communicate to the unconscious mind what steps it needed to take in order to bring about healing. The most surprising aspect of this practice was discovering just how versatile the unconscious mind was in its ability to process a wide diversity of visual images toward a common intention.

For example, to treat a malignant tumor one might choose to visualize packing or bathing the tumor in an alkaline substance since cancer cells are unable to survive in an alkaline environment. Another might elect to visualize plucking out the tumor and casting it into a fire, while still others might choose to simply flood the entire area with rays of healing multi-colored energy.

My own favorite treatment for tumors and other unwanted growths was to visualize a tiny faucet directly between the growth and the rest of the body. Then by seeing the faucet being turned off in my mind I conveyed to the unconscious the idea of shutting off the blood supply to the tumor. In fact, as fate would have it, about a year after taking Mr. Bibb’s course I had occasion to employ this very technique on myself when I developed a cancerous mole on my groin. Only one visualization session, lasting no more than 10 minutes, was required. Within hours the mole turned pure white from lack of blood and lost all sense of feeling. It then began falling apart in pieces and within three days there was no sign it had ever been there.

In the interest of "covering all the bases" many healers will combine multiple images in hopes of stimulating the body to attack the problem from different directions. But in the end the specifics seem far less important than the intention behind them, and very often the best visualization to use will be suggested by the unconscious of the patient themselves, if we but listen and trust our own innate intuition. Many excellent books exist that offer a wealth of suggestions along this line. Mr. Bibb’s own work "Amazing Secrets of Psychic Healing" remains, even to this day, one of the most authoritative and detailed "how-to" guides on this subject and provides literally hundreds of illustrated examples of effective healing visualizations.

But can a non-psychic like me really do this?

Many people would love to learn psychic healing but doubt they have the requisite "talent" necessary to become proficient. It’s an understandable concern, and not without some justification, especially when you consider how the forces of political and religious control have tried to eradicate every vestige of psychic or spiritual awareness from this planet for the last several millennia. The truth is that even in this dawning age of spiritual renewal there are still billions of people whose psychic and spiritual faculties remain largely dormant. But it doesn’t have to remain that way. There are simple exercises that anyone can perform to increase the rotational velocity of their chakras, which in turn will ignite their psychic centers quite easily. In fact, these exercises may even help to boost the performance of accomplished psychics. For best results, these exercises should be performed daily.

Before beginning such practices, however, it’s a good idea to take an inventory of your intentions. To do this, make a list of your most important intentions… changes you want to make in your life, and the things you want to focus on achieving in the world during the next few weeks, and be prepared to update the list periodically. Each intention should be a short, one-line statement. The list should be arranged in order from the most fundamental to the more complex. For example, if you’ve not been getting enough rest or your diet has not been good you might want to make your first intention something like: "I intend that I am always well rested and well nourished." Even if your number one goal in life is to climb Mt Everest, correcting problems of diet and such is basic to enabling you to pursue more complex goals. When your list is finished you will probably notice that those in the top half of the list have to do with changes you want to make in yourself, while those in the bottom half have more to do with things you want to achieve in the external world. If they don’t, you may want to consider reordering your priorities. In any case, if becoming an effective psychic healer is one of your core intentions, be sure it’s listed in there somewhere.

Now we’re ready to perform our daily exercise for psychic enhancement. Stand in a comfortable position, close your eyes and quiet your mind as best you can. If thoughts continue, simply ignore them. In time they will go away by themselves. Take several deep breaths through your nostrils and blow out through your mouth to increase the oxygen level in your body. Once your mind has quieted down a bit visualize a shaft of electric blue energy coming down from above and entering your body through the top of your head. Feel the energy engulf you. If you feel a slight vibration within your body or a gentle pressure that seems to be pushing your head back this indicates that you are already able to feel the universal life-force entering into you. If you feel nothing, don’t be concerned. Holding your intent upon the vision of energy is all that’s important.

Now extend your arms out to both sides and fix your gaze on your right thumb and begin turning in a clockwise direction (left to right) by moving your feet while remaining on the same spot. Count each time you complete a turn until you have completed a total of 33 revolutions. Then stop, bring your hands together in front of your chest and wait until the residual dizziness subsides. After a few seconds pick up the piece of paper on which you have listed your intentions and recite them in order a minimum of three times. This completes the exercise.

In the beginning you will only want to perform this exercise once a day, and always spin clockwise, never counter-clockwise. Gradually, you can increase the frequency up to three times per day, but never exceed the 33 revolutions per exercise. As you become more comfortable with the exercise you may find that your spinning speed increases. This is normal. Always use the speed that is most comfortable for you. If the feeling of residual dizziness persists for several hours after performing each exercise this means that your chakras are already rotating at optimal velocity and you are doing as much of the exercise as you should at the present time.

One final note. Anytime you wish to send healing energy to someone you are working on, be sure to only send the universal life force you are pulling in through the top of your head. Never send your own personal energy. That will only deplete you, causing feelings of fatigue. Also, after each healing session it’s a good idea to do a cleansing of your aura by giving yourself a quick "shower" by standing under the shaft of blue light and asking it to flush out anything undesirable that may have inadvertently collected in your aura.

Healing Others by Healing Ourselves?

A few weeks ago an email crossed my desk about a psychotherapist in Hawaii named Dr Hew Len who has an even more radical approach to healing. According to his account while employed by the Hawaii State Hospital (HSH) for four years, Dr Hew Len endeavored to treat and cure an entire ward of criminally insane patients without ever meeting, or physically interacting with, any of them. In addition, as the patients began to steadily improve and even get released, conditions on the ward also improved with the result that staff morale went up even as turnover and absenteeism declined.

How did he do it? Well, according to Dr Hew Len’s testimony instead of interacting with patients he simply sat in his office with a patient’s file open before him while he "worked on himself." And how did he work on himself? By repeating over and over "I’m sorry" and "I love you".

You see, according to Dr Hew Len he was simply healing the part of himself that created them. In his way of thinking each person’s mind is their very own personal movie projector and everything they see in their world is their responsibility because they are the one who’s projecting it. If you don’t like the movie you’re watching it’s up to you to change the movie. Because to heal anyone of anything we must first neutralize the negative energy we associate with that person. To do that we must first ask forgiveness for having held that person in a negative way, in our own minds, and then allow ourselves to feel love toward that person.

Needless to say, if Dr Hew Len is correct, the implications for our entire view of reality would be nothing short of staggering. Given my own background with psychic healing, and having been a lifetime student of Carlos Castaneda’s ideas about the nature of reality, I was probably somewhat more open to considering Dr Hew Len’s radical views than most, so I decided to recirculate the email among a few select people in my own circle. One of those who received it was a friend by the name of Aliman Sears, President of the Hawaii Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association. His response, however, stimulated a whole new set of issues for me to ponder. Here, edited for brevity, is the essence of what he had to say.

"I've worked at HSH on and off for the past seven years as a community based psychiatric case manager and team leader. I suppose if there was some solid evidence about what Dr. Hew Len did, I would have at least heard rumors about him. However, in the case of HSH, even if there was a temporal relation between his utterances and the healing of the patients, that doesn't mean that there was also a causal link. Without a study showing that link, I'm skeptical. The HSH has been under a Consent Decree as a result of a federal lawsuit, and the DOJ has put severe pressure on the Hawaii Dept. of Health to improve. As a result, the HSH has made huge leaps forward. I saw it transform myself. And it was due to a lot of hard work by a lot of people across a wide spectrum of state and private service providers. The DOH lit a HUGE fire under a lot of people all across the management and treatment spectrum, and the result--it's true--was that everything, including the patients improved drastically. Whole wings did close, but it was because the census dropped and other reasons. My guess is that if such cures would have happened, especially in "a whole ward," it really would be big news. Again, I'm not saying this didn't happen, I'm saying I'm skeptical in the absence of evidence."

Aliman raised the one question that any scientist worth his salt would ask. Where’s the evidence of a causal link? How do we prove such a claim? Still, the question is not altogether unlike looking for proof of the existence of God in a test tube. Surely, I thought to myself, a man as deeply spiritual as I know Aliman to be would see the irony in that. And that’s when I felt an epiphany coming on.

I found myself thinking about a psychic healing project that I had undertaken with the help of several friends just a week earlier… a project to heal a terminally ill patient with inoperable cancer whom the doctors had already given up for dead… a patient who just happened to be a champion race horse named Lost in the Fog, winner of the national Eclipse Award for best sprinter of 2005. In fact, just days earlier I had discussed the project with George Noory on his nationally syndicated radio show Coast to Coast AM, a conversation which actually inspired the writing of this article.

What occurred to me was that on the day we started turning off the "faucets" that control the blood flow to Fog’s tumors everyone connected with the horse had already given him up for dead. All they were committed to doing was making him comfortable for however many days he had left until he would finally have to be euthanized. Then, four days into our daily treatments, a new article appeared in the Daily Racing Form announcing that the horse was "doing remarkably well" and they were not giving up on him after all. In fact, the doctors had decided to employ an aggressive regimen of steroids in an effort to, of all things, "shrink his tumors." Well, imagine that.

Upon hearing this news I began to wonder if perhaps all our efforts at sending healing energies to this horse may have affected more than just his tumors. Maybe we were affecting the consciousness of everyone around him as well. The good news from all this was that with everyone pulling for Lost in the Fog he now had a better chance of beating his cancer than anyone had imagined. The bad news, of course, was that scientists, like my good friend Aliman, would never get the "proof" they want to justify believing that our psychic healing was the cause behind the effect.

And what if the same is true in the case of Dr Hew Len and HSH? What if all those wheels that Aliman tells us were set in motion to bring about positive changes at HSH were actually a response to one therapist sitting alone in his office focusing his intention on forgiveness and love? What if quantum theory is correct and causality can never really be isolated from effect, and both thoughts and events are like a river where each water molecule is both cause and effect, each pushing the one in front of it even as another molecule is pushing it from behind?

Or, maybe the movie we’re all watching is just a projection like Dr Hew Len says… the product of a single enormous collective unconscious powered by a script we’re all collectively creating from one moment to the next. And what if each one of us has been endowed with the power to edit that script in any way we choose? Do we have the courage to properly wield such power, or will our fear of failure continue to make us shrink from the ominous responsibility of creation? The need for healing on planet Earth has never been greater… not just from illness and disease, but from broken hearts, from regional conflicts, and from environmental misconduct. But if each of us lends a hand, in some small way, maybe we’ll discover, in the end, that we really can heal anyone of anything.
