http://www.gilead.net/health/carob.html click the link and read if you are a chocolate lover.
Really I had no idea it was so bad, but it's a relief to know there is an alternative to chocolate.
So I'm just wondering have any of you ever cooked with and or tried and tasted carob? Was it any good, was it expensive and where would I find it? [Im assuming bulk health food stores.]
Thanks for any feedback in advance, I can't wait to try and make macaroons using carob as a replacement for the choco.
Oh I almost forgot..It's Dr's orders I'm not allowed chocolate or any product containg caffene as its effecting my mental health so thats where this is coming from.

Hey Nix thanks for the infor....another product that is detrimental to our health to add to our list...our beloved chocolate!  Carob is a great product and I have used it and I like it.  We have chocoholics in our family and breaking away from the habit of eating it is not easy I agree.  One of the places that I have purchased carob from is online at http://www.bulkfoods.com/.  They have bulk carob powder plus lots of confections made with yoghurt and carob etc.  I have purchased from this company many baking goods and they are reputable, fast in delivery and I like most of the products I have purchased from them.  Another online source for organic flours and beans etc that I use is http://www.BobsRedMill.com.  Their products are pricey but superior in quality.

Switching to usining products without caffiene is going to be difficult but you will be glad that you did.  I am not a coffee drinker thankfully and I think that is a product that is most difficult to set aside and not consume if you are accustomed to drinking it.  I do drink tea by the gallons however and I am learning to like green and white tea!  It is so beneficial to your immune system.

Wishing you luck with your transition away from chocolate!
