The book I am reading through, is supposedly written by a women who practices regullarly. She says that her gift is intuition ~ knowing things that she really shouldnt know about from herself and experiences~ It's a very basic book that explains many differnet types of phenomena and the psychic and scientific approach to the same things.  It's so hard to know what and where to get your info from. I appreciate your input as you seem like a very kind and knowledgable person. To have gone from a being a psychologist to now using your knowledge as medium is quite amazing to me. AS psychologist normally seem to look for the chemical side of things. I saw a psychologist as teenager. I told him about my abilities and perceptions. Becaues at the time I was having scary haunting like things happening to me that scared me. He told me I was a "sensitive" not sensitive like crying but that I was more sensitive to my enviroment and picked up on more things, he then told me that even though I was sensitive and could percieve more then most it was the fact that I took those perceptions and made them into a spiritualistic problem that was my psychological issue. that was when I was 16yrs old I'm 24 now. I know my intuiton is more then just telling if someone is a liar or not but I'm not sure how to apply it, to something that will actually mean anything. Sometimes I wonder if my intuition is myself or something else speaking through me just like I feel emotions like they are my own but I know they arent from me. It's hard to know because I can't just go and ask anybody...lol Perhaps I'm one of those intuitives that cannot connect with spirit guides...lol I'm not sure. I just know I have a purpose but I dont know what it is yet. Thanks for you thoughts I appreciate the advice and knowledge!

ps- i did try to figure out the names of my spirit guides I did get the name joanna as my 4th instead joanofa this time but i allso know how one can influence themselves as well, I find it odd when I ask for my relatives names that my great grandmother joan gives me her first name the 2nd one tells me his last name which is the same last as joan. When I ask if it's a last name my pendulum says yes, and then I can get it to spell out his first name joan husband my great grandpa, but it seems so surreal to me...lol perhaps I can use my dowsing in order to speak with spirits which i can't do on my own, but then isn't it the same as using ouji which I've always heard was not a good thing to do...

There are many gifted people in the world and we all have various degree's of perception.  Being intuitive can mean much more than just being able to tell if someone is lying to you for example.  Intuitives can "feel" others pain for example, but they do not usually connect with spirit guides, family members on the other side, akashic records etc.  There are different types of "mediums" also.  Some are very connected to the angelic realm and receive guidance and messages from them, some connect easily with those on the other side but do not let the spirits speak through them, and there are the type of mediums where they do channel spirit messages by going into a deeper level of consciousness and allowing the discarnate spirit to use their body to convey messages.

As for psychics who give readings are of all varieties and to say they are all just intuitives is not a correct analogy.  I have many, many psychic friends who are multi-talented who work like I do taking personal calls and calls through a psychic advice line.  We are accustomed to dealing with casual calls, can usually tune in rapidly to a situation and most of us are very adept at connecting with those on the other side however like every profession there are those who will scam you also and offer outrageous spells for a huge fee etc and you have to be cautious and find the psychic that is entuned to your needs.  Largely my long term clients are very similar to those I had while working as a psychologist.  They are looking for connection with departed family members, want direction if they are on the wrong path, and a large number call about relationships and where they are going in the future.  Since I worked in other professions for many years a lot of my clients call for professional advice about their career also. 

Some people use psychics to help them through the rough spots in life and to help them find direction. 

Being intuitive opens doors to other psychic abilities like your ability to use a pendulum, or using a crystal to scry etc.  There are no one set of rules that apply unfortunately and a lot of people who write books about psychics have no clue what we are like or what we see they just surmise that we are either a clairvoyant or we are intuitive and hang labels on us because they do not understand that this is a very complex issue and as psychic's we have many facets to our abilities.  Some psychic's have huge abilities and some may just be good at predicting earthquakes or rainshowers etc.
