Lucid Dreaming
Posted On 09/10/2010 04:57:25 by administrator

Good Morning everyone!  I hope that you are all surviving the Mercury Retrograde without major mishaps!  I have noticed that so many are struggling with this phenomena this time that I must add that we all need to keep repeating "this too shall pass" and try not to stress to much about the turmoils in the world.

I have had a lot of inquiries about dream analysis, dream interpretation etc. lately and I have decided to include today a really excellent article I found on the internet and I hope you will enjoy it.

How to lucid dream   by Melissa Duson

Dreams lie beyond waking life in a world where few can open their eyes.

Every day we spend 8 hours in a place far from our beds where we paint the landscape with all of our thoughts.

Whether you remember them or not you have about 5-7 dreams a night. Sometimes upon waking you might remember a dream or 2 but then forget them as quickly as they came. Dreams are usually made of the happenings of your day, the thoughts you have as you lie in bed, and sometimes archetypal symbols sent from our subconscious.

Dreams are all encompassing. Dreaming is living in the moment without fully being there. We act according to our given circumstances in the moment and process it as reality.

Think about it. Every dream we have isn't directly created by you, but by the images left in your head before sleep. And while we sleep in bed we sleep in our dream - - not being fully there and aware.

Now imagine as you read this that you notice something off that triggers you to suddenly realize you're dreaming. You would feel like you just woke up into a world where anything is be possible - - you could fly out of your seat, go anywhere, and create anything that your imagination could conceive. Life is just as real there as in waking life.

This consciousness of dreaming is called lucid dreaming and anyone can do it if you take enough action. The problem is that most have become so used to shutting down and letting the dream take you rather than the other way around. This habit can be broken with a persistent and open mind.

In beginning your work towards lucid dreaming the first thing to ask yourself is how often do you remember your dreams? If you can't remember your dreams every night then you might have a lucid dream without even realizing it and that defeats the purpose of lucidity. The first step towards everything is an affirmation - - Visualize yourself each night before you go to bed remembering your dreams (as opposed to repeating empty words in your head)

The most effective way to continue to remember is to keep a dream journal. Find a notebook and a pen, date each page, and keep it next to your bed. When you wake up take a moment before you actually move so that your dream doesn't slip away, and when you feel ready write down a description, pictures, or even just words that describe your dream (be as creative as you want).

The next step once you start to remember more and more dreams each night is to question your state of being when you're awake. Whenever you have the impulse or notice something a little off ask yourself if you're dreaming and question your surroundings. An easy way to test this is to pull one of your fingers - - in a dream solid matter moves with thought. The more you ask this question during your day the more you'll be likely to ask it in your dream (remember your dreams are shaped by your experiences while awake?)

Another way to get lucidity is through pure will. In bed before you sleep affirm that you'll have a lucid dream tonight. Think of it, imagine it, and put as much energy towards that as you can. After you do that let it all go and relax into sleep (it's important to not hold on to these thoughts but to let them sink into the subconscious)

Most important of all is persistence. Rome wasn't built in a day - - don't expect instant gratification. Also I can't stress enough the importance of keeping a good journal with both images and words - - without it your dreams are going to disappear. Keep at it though because lucid dreaming is so worth it! A whole new world is waiting to be explored and created by you. All possibility is up to you!

Blessings of Enlightenment
