Quitting the Cigarette Habit!
I am a reformed smoker! I smoked for too many years to count and have the health problems that are associated with the abusive habit. I am always preaching to those I love and care about to quit. Recently I was in a discussion with a friend that was in the process of quitting and she informed me of a new device to help those who are wanting to quit
She is using a device called the E-Cigarette which looks just like a cigarette and it is a battery operated device that delivers inhaled doses of nicotine without the other harmful substances.
Here is the Wikipedia definition:
An electronic cigarette (or "e-cigarette") is an alternative to smoked tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. It is a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by delivering a vaporized propylene glycol/nicotine solution. In addition to nicotine delivery, this vapor also provides a flavor and physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, while no tobacco, smoke, or combustion is actually involved in its operation.
The electronic cigarette usually takes the form of some manner of elongated tube, though many are designed to resemble the outward appearance of real smoking products, like cigarettes, cigars, and pipes. A common design is also the "pen-style", so named for its visual resemblance to a ballpoint pen.
I was able to quit smoking using the nicotine inhaler but I could not stand the taste of the nicotine in the capsules and just ended up chewing on the inhaler until the worst of the cravings were over. My husband used the nicotine cartridges and he was successful in quitting also. This looks to be a product that is similar to the enhaler but they have refined the process.
My friend told me that she is able to use it after eating in restaurants (that's when users crave a cigarette the most I think ) and there is no visable smoke just a vapor. She has completely quit buying cigarrettes but she is a still desiring the nicotine. She uses it less and less however and is beginning to not need it as much.
I hope we can get some dialogue going about this product and others so we can help our clients and friends who are deligently trying to kick the habit.
I found having something in my hands that resembled a cigarette really helped me when I was quitting. I think this is a good idea. Have any of you tried this device and if so can you tell us anything about it that will help others?
Blessings to you all this lovely Sunday!
